The Logic of Perfection

“We believe the Bible is the perfect Word of God in the original manuscripts”. So reads many a church & seminary statement of faith. But logically perfection by definition must be indestructible and eternal, which rules out the originals. It is not reasonable to believe in the infallibility of only the original manuscripts because if the originals alone were perfect, and the words therein not perfectly perpetuated through time, then logically we can deduce that the originals were never perfect in the first place; which puts Christians in a difficult position to say the least. However, scripture constantly asserts that the the word of God will never wither or fade: The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever (Isaiah 40:8). New version supporters and their statements of faith are in conflict with scripture which logically concludes that the perfection of God’s word is perpetuated through all time to the present day. In the present day, the perfect English scriptures can be found in the Authorized Version, or as commonly called the King James Bible.
